Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
St Patrick’s Day
Next Friday, 15 March we are going to celebrate St Patrick’s Day by going green!
The actual feast day will be celebrated on Sunday, 17th March but as a school this year we invite everyone to celebrate together on the 15th March. The day will begin with a Prayer Assembly in the PAC, hosted by 3 Green and Mrs Shoring. All students are invited to wear green and bring a gold coin donation. We are also going to host a St Patrick’s Day Outdoors Disco for all our students. We will dance some Irish jigs and enjoy some Irish bands. Thank you to our SRC for organising this event for our students. The SRC will be selling food and drinks at the disco and will have some fun activities for students to enjoy during their recess. All raised funds will be donated to Caritas’ Project Compassion. More details will follow in our next newsletter.
Year 5 Camp
Next Wednesday our Year 5 students and their teachers Ms Grace, Mrs Field and Mr Green will be off to Warrambui for three wonderful days at the Year 5 Camp. We know you will have an amazing time together building memories and participating in fabulous experiences – don’t forget to wear something green on Friday!
NAPLAN
NAPLAN Testing will commence next Wednesday for our Year 3 students and Year 5 will commence their testing after camp on Monday 18 March. More information will be forwarded to Year 3 and Year 5 parents on the COMPASS Class News Feed.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Northern Region Swimming Carnival last Thursday and the Archdiocesan Swimming Carnival on Monday in Boorowa – we are extremely proud of your determination and competitive spirit towards swimming at representative level, and for the pride you take in representing Mt Carmel – well done! A special thank you Mr Dunstan, and to all staff and parents for your assistance at these events.
Clean up Australia Day
Thank you to everyone who supported their children with a pair of gloves to participate in the Clean Up Australia Day House Spirit Challenge. Congratulations to Hartigan for being our winning house!
May God’s peace be in your families,

Religious Education in the Classroom
Welcome to Week 6! Year 1 students are examining the Old Testament passage, Exodus, and making connections between important messages about God’s presence in the lives of the people of these stories and also in the students’ lives.
Moses saves God’s people
I asked a few students the question: How is God present in your life?
Scarlett: God talks to us through messages on the stained glass windows in the Mercy Chapel.
Ted: By listening to God in my brain.
Brooke: God is in our hearts.
Logan: God comes into our hearts through prayer.
William: God helps me be respectful to others.
At Mercy Chapel looking for important messages from God.
Religious Life of Mt Carmel School
Every year, countless people turn Lent into a demonstration of faith, love and generosity. You can be a part of this incredible community, who believe that there are simple actions we can all take to “be more” for our world.
Please remember to send in your donations for Project Compassion and help make the world a fairer place for all. Let us be more!
Prayer
Gracious God, Lent is a period of inner reflection and examination.
The days stretch before me and invite me inward to that silent, holy space that holds your Spirit.
This special time beckons me to see my life through Christ's eyes and the truth and reality of your love incarnate.
Give me the grace to enter the space of these days with anticipation of our meeting. And, when I open my soul to your presence, let your loving kindness flow over me and seep into the pockets of my heart.
I ask this for the sake of your love.
Amen.

The Mt Carmel School Uniform Shop will now be open each Thursday afternoon between 2.30pm and 4.00pm during school terms.
Ordering Options - Uniform orders can be placed online via Qkr! or by order form, which can be collected and paid for from the front office.
All Qkr! orders placed before 2pm each Thursday will be bundled up and sent home with your child on Friday afternoon. Order Forms can be collected from the front office if needed.
Please note that if the incorrect size/item is ordered or the size selected does not fit correctly, please return the item along with a note regarding changes required to the front office, so the correct size/item can be sent home.
Mt Carmel Clothing Pool - Opening Thursday 14 March
The aim of the Clothing Pool is to supplement the Uniform Shop and assist families to source second-hand uniforms at reasonable prices. Any profit made from the clothing pool will be directly donated to the Vinnies Food appeal generally held twice a year.
The clothing pool will be established through the donation of Mt Carmel uniforms that are no longer required by the family. The items may be too small, the children have left Mt Carmel etc.
Donations can be left in tubs located at the front office. We are aiming to have the clothing pool up and running by mid-March (a confirmed date will be advised and will depend on how many donations we receive), and open in conjunction with the uniform shop.
All Mt Carmel uniform items, with the exception of socks, can be donated (including school bags), provided they are in good condition, without significant wear and tear, stains or damage. To ensure appropriate hygiene standards are maintained, only clothing that has been washed will be accepted.
If you have any questions, please contact Liz on lizdadeppo@gmail.com.
